I remember looking in the mirror while shopping at Stein Mart and thinking to myself – I do not like the way my body is looking. A few minutes later, my phone rang and it was my hubby. I started to complain but then I caught myself. I knew I was about to say the same old things I always say when I go shopping and get disappointed with myself.
So, I decided then and there. Do the thing you are always quoting to other people. “To get something different, you’ve got to do something different.”
Instead of complaining, I said to my hubby, “Romeo, would you like to join me on a 100-day walk challenge?” Initially, he said he was too busy to walk everyday. I laughed heartily in the store and reminded him that I live with him, we are both retired, I know his schedule and he is not that busy. We both laughed. That was on September 11th, 2018. He agreed to be my walking partner….yeah!!!
The guidelines are simple – walk a minimum of 30 minutes a day, no excuses, no skipping a day – in addition to any outside class we may have scheduled, like water aerobics and Zumba toning.
We are a few days past one month in and have not missed a single day. I’m feeling good!!! This is only the beginning of more changes in my lifestyle to get that healthier body. My plan is to document my progress through my new love of photography and to be very transparent with my challenges, goals, and accomplishments.
Come along with me on this journey and wish me joy in the process.
